The highly substituted compound [Ti(η5-Me4C5H)Cl3] is prepared from tetramethyl(trimethylsilyl)cyclopentadiene and titanium(IV) chloride in a 65% yield. The pentamethylcyclopentadienyl complexes [TiCp*X3[ (X = Cl, Br, I) are similarly obtained from the corresponding titanium(IV) halide and pentamethyl(trimethylsilyl)cyclopentadiene in an almost quantitative yield without the need for further purification.[166] The chelating arsenic–titanium complex 69 is also prepared by this method (Scheme 34).[68]
