Dichlorobis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV) (78)/isopropylmagnesium bromide mixtures are also thought to give bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)hydridotitanium(III). These mixtures catalyze the hydrogenation of simple alkenes and dienes[222] under mild conditions (1 × 105 Pa, rt); trisubstituted alkenes are resistant to hydrogenation under these conditions. This catalyst is effective for the isomerization of hexa-1,5-diene to linear and cyclic products.[223]
