The reaction between bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)dimethyltitanium (85) and hydrogen gas leads to the formation [Ti(C5H4)(η5-Cp)H] (99), presumably via bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)titanium(II) (98) (Scheme 49).[224] Reduction of dichlorobis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV) (78) by sodium/naphthalene,[230] sodium sand,[231] or sodium amalgam[232] also leads to “titanocene” species (Scheme 49).[230]
