The reduction of dichlorobis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)titanium(IV) (78) with magnesium in the presence of 1-bromo-2-fluorobenzene generates an unstable titaniumbenzyne complex, which behaves in a similar fashion to alkyne complexes; for example, with diphenylacetylene a dark green titanaindene complex 192 is formed (Scheme 127).[‌320‌]
