This class of compounds covers zirconium or hafnium complexes containing a M=CR1R2, M=NR1, M=O, M=PR1, or M=Se moiety. These complexes are relatively unstable and are often prepared in situ; however, with suitable bulky substituents on the ligands, these complexes can be isolated and their structures have been determined by X-ray analysis.
