Substitution reactions of alkenylcopper reagents proceed as expected, allowing transfer of the vinylic group to the organic electrophile. Generally, only small quantities of copper catalyst are required and the reaction is conducted at low temperature. This is not strictly necessary, since higher temperatures have been successfully employed, showing that alkenylcoppers are relatively thermally stable. The solvent of choice is generally tetrahydrofuran. Some representative examples, and experimental procedures, are presented here.
