3.4.7.4 Method 4: From Alkenyllithium Reagents

DOI: 10.1055/sos-SD-003-00274

Heaney, H.; Christie, S.Science of Synthesis, (20043613.

The use of alkenyllithium reagents is one of the most common for the preparation of alkenylcuprates. In general, the cuprate is prepared by the addition of 2 equivalents of the alkenyllithium reagent to a copper source, commonly a copper(I) halide, at low temperature in an ethereal solvent. The cuprate is then used in a subsequent reaction.
