Information regarding the synthesis of boronic acids via transmetalation has been previously reviewed.[‌1‌‌4‌] Transmetalation is perhaps the most straightforward preparation of organoboranes if the requisite organometallic reagent is easily available. In laboratory-scale synthesis, organomagnesium or -lithium reagents are the most useful, regarding availability and ease of preparation. Other organometallic derivatives (Al, Zn, Si, Sn, Hg) also undergo transmetalation to alkoxyboranes or boron halides.
