It is well-known that the reducing power of lithium aluminum hydride, sodium aluminum hydride, and aluminum trihydride is modified by the introduction of alkoxy or amino substituents; such alkoxy- or aminoaluminum hydrides have found routine application in selective, partial, and stereospecific reductions of various carbonyl and other functionalities.
