Even if metalmetal exchange is not a general method for the synthesis of allylmetal compounds, some examples are known. Metalmetal exchange reaction between diallylmercury and sodium metal is reported to occur readily under mild conditions to afford allylsodium (Scheme 5).[‌14‌]
