3-(Arylideneamino)-1,2,3-benzotriazin-4(3H)-ones undergo thermal decomposition on heating in an inert medium to give the isomeric 2-arylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones in preparative yields (Scheme 132).[630] The reaction of 1,2,3-benzotriazin-4(3H)-one with formamide at 200°C affords quinazolin-4(3H)-one, whereas quinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-dione is obtained with urea.[631]
