Treatment of the diacetamide 123 [prepared from acetylation of 4-(2-aminophenyl)thiazol-2-amine monohydrobromide][121] with excess phosphoryl chloride gave bright orange plates of benzodiazathiacyclazine 90 in 14% yield (Scheme 47). The UV, IR, and NMR spectra suggest that this compound is a highly aromatic system.[121]
