Typical conditions for the base-catalyzed hydrolysis of simple amides involve refluxing the amide in an aqueous solution containing approximately 20% sodium hydroxide. More forcing conditions involve the use of potassium hydroxide in mono-, di-, or triethylene glycol. Some examples are shown in Table 3.[‌42‌‌46‌]
