24.4.3.3.2.1 Method 1: Generation of Alk-1-ynylmetals from 1-(Organoselanyl)- and 1-(Organotellanyl)alk-1-ynes

DOI: 10.1055/sos-SD-024-00952

Potapov, V. A.; Trofimov, B. A.Science of Synthesis, (200624988.

1-(Organoselanyl)- and 1-(organotellanyl)alk-1-ynes can serve as protected terminal alkynes. Removal of the organoselanyl or organotellanyl moiety after the necessary transformations can be performed by reaction with alkyllithiums to form the corresponding lithium acetylides. Thus, the reaction of 1-(alkyltellanyl)-2-phenylacetylenes 76 with butyllithium or alkyl Grignard reagents yields phenylacetylene and dialkyl tellurides 77 (Scheme 33).[‌136‌,‌212‌]
