Organotitanium[‌99‌] and organozirconium[‌100‌] reagents are rarely used in acylation reactions with acyl chlorides. Alkyltitanium reagents mainly afford the tertiary alcohols, and only allyltitanium reagents lead to the desired ketones. Alkylzirconium reagents are usually obtained by hydrometalation of an alkene with Schwartz's reagent [chlorobis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)hydridozirconium(IV)] and can react with acyl chlorides.
