General Introduction
Enones appear as structural motifs in a diverse range of naturally occurring molecules, and α,β-unsaturated ketones in particular are widely used as building blocks in synthesis. The majority of specific methods for the synthesis of enones focus on α,β-unsaturated ketones and hence this will form the main body of this review, but significant methods for the preparation of nonconjugated variants are also discussed herein.
