The unstable (β-oxoalkyl)phenyliodonium salts 200 can be generated in situ by low temperature reactions of silyl enol ethers 199 with the complex formed between iodosylbenzene and tetrafluoroboric acid. Reactions of the salts 200 with silyl enol ethers afford 1,4-diones selectively, while reactions with alkenes lead to the products of alkylation at the allylic position (Scheme 70).[‌246‌]
