Triflatoboric acid [2TfOH•B(OTf)3], prepared from trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and boron trichloride, is a superacid that catalyzes nitration reactions of deactivated aromatic compounds. The nitrated products 40 are obtained in good yields (Scheme 19).[100]
