Simple nitrosoarenes are oxidized to nitroarenes in good yields when iodosylbenzene is used as the oxidant and an iron–tetraphenylporphyrin complex as a catalyst. Nitrobenzene, for example, is formed in over 90% yield in a few minutes when the reaction is performed at 0°C.[511]
