The condensation reactions of aromatic nitroso or nitro compounds with arylamines give access to a broader range of substituted diaryldiazenes than the coupling of diazonium salts. By condensation of arylhydrazines with quinones, hydroxy-substituted diaryldiazenes are available. Another condensation reaction furnishing diaryldiazenes not covered in this section is the reaction of aromatic N-sulfinylamines with aromatic hydroxylamines.[202]
