The use of titanium-based reagents for the alkylidenation of carbonyl groups is well known and has been reviewed previously.[‌119‌,‌120‌] As shown in Scheme 47, the treatment of amides with titanium alkylidenes, generated in situ, leads to enamines 82, presumably through the intermediacy of an oxometallacycle 81, which fragments to give the enamine and a titanium(IV) oxo species.
