Electrophilic fluorination is one of the most direct methods for selective introduction of fluorine into organic compounds.[48,49] Elemental fluorine itself can be used, under appropriate reaction conditions. However, fluoroxy compounds, such as cesium fluoroxysulfate (CsSO4F), are also useful reagents for the electrophilic introduction of fluorine into a wide range of organic compounds, including benzylic derivatives.
