Intramolecular cyclization of unsaturated iodo compounds with a variety of functional groups is a versatile method that has been applied to the synthesis of various carbocyclic and heterocyclic compounds.[41] Iodo-induced cyclization of several unsaturated substrates, e.g. 30 and 32, using bis(pyridine)iodonium(I) tetrafluoroborate, affords iodo-substituted cyclohexane derivatives 31 and 33 respectively (Scheme 15).[42]
