36.1.1.3 Method 3: Oxidation of Organoboron Compounds

DOI: 10.1055/sos-SD-036-00003

Porter, M. J.Science of Synthesis, (20083640.

Oxidation of boranes, boronates, and boronic acids is one of the most widely used methods for the synthesis of alcohols {see also Science of Synthesis, Vol. 6 [Boron Compounds (Section 6.1.1.7.2)]}. The organoboron compounds themselves are most frequently prepared by the hydroboration of alkenes (Section 6.1.1.7.16.1.1.7.1), and often are not isolated. This section focuses primarily on the oxidation of isolated organoboranes.
