Many routes to aziridines that are subsequently to be used as synthetic intermediates feature cyclization of 2-haloalkanamines, 2-aminoalkanols, or equivalent reagents. Although this is an area of organic synthesis that is widely described in the literature, the methods used are covered by a relatively narrow conceptual area. The area has been widely reviewed; this section seeks to highlight particular methods that offer the broadest applicability, or which feature distinct improvements or modifications to the general methods.
