Symmetrical N,N′-diarylsulfur diimides can be synthesized by condensation of arylamines with sulfur tetrafluoride in the presence of triethylamine.[64] Unsymmetrical N,N′-diarylsulfur diimides (e.g., 32) can be synthesized by condensation of arylamines with an appropriate N-arylimidosulfur dichloride (e.g., 31) (Scheme 17).[65]
