General Introduction

The phosphazene compounds described here in this section are considerably less sensitive to oxygen compared with trivalent organophosphorus compounds, because the phosphorus atom in phosphazenes is in its maximum (+5) oxidation state. However, several phosphazenes are moisture-sensitive and, in general, specific care, such as the use of Schlenk and glovebox techniques, should be taken when synthesizing, storing, and handling these compounds.
