Methylenecycloalkenes can be prepared from cyclic enones by alkenation, and some approaches involve the transition-metal-catalyzed cycloisomerization of enynes or al­len­ynes; in this type of chemistry platinum- and gold-catalyzed reactions are most frequently encountered.
