46.5.5.1.2 Variation 2: Gold-Catalyzed Cycloisomerization

DOI: 10.1055/sos-SD-046-00090

Gandon, V.; Thorimbert, S.; Malacria, M.Science of Synthesis, (200946228.

In some cases the catalytic cycloisomerization of enynes in the presence of cationic gold(I) complexes gives methylenecycloalkenes in addition to other cyclic compounds.[‌160‌,‌190‌,‌191‌] Thus, starting from 1,6-enynes 194 there is competition between a 6-endo-dig cyclization and the usual 5-exo-dig process that may result in mixtures of the compounds 195 and 196 or 195 and 197 (Scheme 69).[‌160‌,‌190‌]
