Cross-coupling reactions of alkenylboron derivatives with allylic compounds provide access to various 1,4- and 1,5-dienes. For example, E- or Z-alkenylboranes, generated by hydroboration of alkynes, are converted into intermediate alkenylcopper complexes, which undergo stereospecific cross coupling with allylic halides yielding the corresponding E- and Z-1,4-dienes 16 and 17, respectively (Scheme 10).[‌22‌]
