A similar reactivity pattern is exhibited by isolated organogold(I) complexes when treated with electrophilic fluorinating reagents. Diene 50 is formed as the only isolable product in 91% yield when gold(I) complex 49 bearing an η1-styrene ligand is treated with N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI) (Scheme 20).[75,76] By contrast, electrophilic sources of chlorine, bromine, and iodine react to give the corresponding halogenated styrenes.
