2-Methylquinolines are inexpensive and readily available raw materials.[5] The chemical structure of 2-methylquinoline (8), also known as quinaldine, is shown in Scheme 2. Several methods for the modification of the benzylic methyl group of 2-methylquinolines are discussed in this section.
