The main approaches to geminal bisperoxides are acid-catalyzed reaction of carbonyl compounds or acetals with hydroperoxides, trityl perchlorate catalyzed condensation of carbonyl compounds with tert-butyl trimethylsilyl peroxide, and alkylation of geminal bishydroperoxides by alkenes or alkyl iodides (Scheme 27). The first group of these reactions has been considered previously in monographs and reviews,[‌34‌‌38‌,‌125‌‌127‌] and, therefore, only the most significant and interesting works are discussed in this review.
