Sodium borohydride, either in conjunction with lithium chloride–acid resin[‌69‌] or with titanium(IV) chloride,[‌54‌,‌70‌] has been used successfully for the reduction of a variety of oximes 55 to the corresponding amines 56 (Scheme 30). The lithium chloride–acid resin procedure is experimentally more convenient than using sodium borohydride in conjunction with titanium(IV) chloride, the latter in 0.5 molar ratio, as such reactions are usually performed in a drybox under argon.[‌54‌]
