There are several methods for the preparation of alkenylzinc reagents. The subsequent sections summarize the four most commonly used methods: (1) direct insertion of zinc into the carbon—halogen bond, (2) transmetalation of various organometallic species to alkenylzinc reagents, (3) hydrozincation and carbozincation of alkynes, and (4) metalation using hindered zinc amide bases.
