There are very few methods for the palladium-catalyzed coupling of vinyl halides with thiols; however, 1-bromo-2-phenylethene (56) undergoes coupling with benzenethiol to give (E/Z)-2-phenylvinyl sulfide 57 with conservation of starting alkene geometry (Scheme 18).[53]
