Next to the ligand effect, the reaction is also dependent on the substrate structure and small changes in chain length affect the rate and selectivity of the catalytic reaction.[‌35‌] Table 4 shows the results for a selection of branched terminal alkenes that have been converted into aldehydes using rhodium–triphenylphosphine catalysts. The results for some linear terminal alkenes are also included for comparison.
