The hamigerans (e.g., 3641) are a small class of brominated terpenes and were isolated by Cambie and co-workers from the marine sponge Hamigerans tarangaensis.[‌76‌] These terpenes possess several unique structural features including the benzannulation of an indenye or an azulene fragment. In addition to these novel structural features, these natural products exhibit antiviral activity against several viruses, including polio.
