The Pauson–Khand reaction is important for the synthesis of various kinds of molecules. The reactions presented in this chapter demonstrate the power of this reaction in the total synthesis of complex natural products, highlighting the array of complex frameworks that can result from its domino series of bond constructions. Therefore, the Pauson–Khand reaction has a prominent place in the repertoire of synthetic organic chemists. Its use enables the construction of complex molecules in a convergent and atom-economic way, starting from structurally simple precursors.
