Tricarbonylchromium(0) complexes of benzocyclobutenone and benzocyclobutenedione can undergo ring expansion reactions leading to substituted tetraol (see Section, naphthol, benzocycloheptenedione, and annulated indanone complexes.[‌189‌,‌373‌] The naphthol complexes shown are the products of an alkoxy anion accelerated vinylcyclobutene cyclohexadiene rearrangement and benzocyclooctenedione complexes originate from a dianionic oxy-Copy rearrangement (Scheme 35).
