Potassium/sodium alloy has been used for the preparation of vinyl- and arylpotassium derivatives. Upon careful control of reaction conditions, vinylpotassium (2) (73% yield; Scheme 3)[‌36‌] and 3-furylpotassium (0.5% yield after carbonation)[‌37‌] may be obtained.
