Oxidation of secondary alcohols can be accomplished by dehydrogenation if appropriate acceptor structures are present. In the presence of catalysts, such as platinum group metals, C=C and CC bonds can take over this role. The hydrogen transfer can occur either inter- or intramolecularly.
