The reaction of Grignard reagents with N,N-dialkylamides was reported as early as 1926.[‌215‌] This reaction is quite general, as primary or secondary alkyl, vinyl, or aryl Grignard reagents react with dimethylacetamide or N,N-dimethylbenzamide to give the corresponding ketones 52 in good yields (Scheme 49).[‌216‌]
