Most of the solvolytic methods described for simple ketones apply equally to oxo esters. Nevertheless, some reactions in which the key step of generating the carbonyl function relies on solvolysis of intermediates such as acetals, aminals, thio- and dithioacetals, enol ethers, enamines, imines, or oximes, isolated or not, offer an original access to oxo esters and related compounds. Some examples are presented in this section.
