Continuous development of this group of synthetic methods from the 1980s onwards makes it probably the most important for the synthesis of cyclopropane derivatives today. The main achievements toward the increase of yields as well as the improvement of diastereo- and enantioselectivities of such cyclopropanations have been reported mainly for functionally substituted cyclopropanes. However, for cyclopropane-containing hydrocarbons the methods discussed in Sections play a very important role as well.
