A number of Stille cross couplings are low yielding under standard conditions. It has been found that the addition of copper(I) salts, particularly in combination with fluoride ions, has a remarkable effect in promoting the reaction (Scheme 6).[‌75‌] The scope of the described reaction for the synthesis of biaryls and alkenylarenes 1 is highlighted in Scheme 7. The method is also successful for the coupling of aryl chlorides.
